PetSmart Vs. Petco

Intro:
I'm not some inspector or health detective, but have you thought about what kind of zone you are taking your pets into when you go into Petco or Petsmart?
Honestly, me neither. This is why i decided to write this Hub, to see who has:
- The Best Prices
- Nicest and Polite Employees
- How They Treat Their Pets
- How They Really Give Back to The Community
Lets Find Out!
(I am doing this all on my own, with no help. These all go by my judgements and are not used to down or up a company. I just would like to express my opinion on the store I prefer. I hope no one gets their feelings hurt, and it's okay to disagree with me)
Prices!
How doesn't think about Prices when you go to a Petco or Petsmart? Me, being the dog lover I am, I could walk in a Pet Store and Spend over 500 dollars on ONE of my dogs. Since I don't have that in my budget, I settle for just what I need. So what are their prices? Your Maybe shopping at PetSmart wondering if the prices are better at Petco? Maybe you shop at Petco and want to know if the prices are better at PetSmart? Me Too, So lets find out!
Here's how it's gonna work: I'm going to go to each Store and buy these:
- Dog Food (Dry dog food)
- Grooming supplies (Clippers, A Brush, Shampoo and Flea Spray)
- Medication (Dog Pain Pills, and Anxiety Relief)
- A Book (on German Shepherds)
- A Collar and Leash
- Elevated Food Bowls (2)
- 2 Toys
- Treats
- A Doggy Door (large size)
Then I am going to compare prices from both stores.
Petsmart:
The Products:
PetSmarts Review:
You do the math and tell me what it came to.
Just kidding. The total came to: $366.90
If I would of ordered online, it would have been: $398.60
Summary:
Bad: While at the store, I was not welcomed in. I walked around for almost 7 minutes looking for their books, and nobody asked if I needed help. When I asked the trainer questions about my dogs behavior she could not help me. I witnessed a dog pee on some products and it was not cleaned the whole time I was there. The lady at the groomers office was very snappy ( I guess she was having a bad day) when I asked her for an estimate on my dog. I waited 11 minutes for someone around the fish area, for questions. It took 9 minutes to get someone to help me reach a heavy product off the top shelf.
Good: The trainer nicely greeted my dog, and showed her love for dogs. The products were nicely placed, and well in stock. They had the toy isle looking very organized. Checkout was speedy. They allowed me to bring beds and dog houses off the shelves for my dog to "try out". The food expert was very good at pointing me to the food area, and even suggested a type of food for his breed. They had a clean area by the bathroom for your dog to have water. Their clearance items were not torn, or disgusting.
Overall Grade: I give it a 8 out of 10.
Why? The Store was very clean, but the service needed some work.

Petco:
Petcos Review:
The total came to: $452.84
If I would of ordered online: $484.86
Summary:
Bad: While at the store I noticed many "unclean" housing for their animals in the store. The bathrooms were not sanitary. Grooming station had hair floating around in the air, and you walk in the door. The fish tanks were not healthy looking. The was numerous dead fish and hermit craps. It took 8 minutes for me to get help about a item placed high. Some products had the wrong price tags on them, and some items were placed on the wrong shelves.
Good: I was nicely greeted by two cashiers at the door, who were more then happy to give my dog a treat, which I thought was kind. Even though, their prices were a tad higher, they had better quality and indurance. Everyone who I met loved animals, and you could tell it. They suggested me to the food I regularly use (they didn't know that) So I was pleased with their suggestion. They were nice enough to give my dog a free nail trimming, just by having a conversation with on of the groomers who just loved my dog. All there treats or "cookies" that are left exposed where kept clean and proper. Checkout was speedy and striked a good conversation about German Shepherds.
Overall Grade: I give it a 7 out of 10.
Why? The Store showed happy greetings, but the view of how they kept their animals was shocking and sets bad examples for customers, mostly the children who love to explore the pet store animals.

Conclusion:
"As for me and my dogs, we will always not go, where the pets go" -AshleyNikole
haha. I do, honestly choose to go to petsmart for grooming or any type of supplies or advice I need. Petco was going to be my choice, but after I saw the treatment of their animals I thought "and I am trusting these people to provide care for my dog?" and it freaked me out, so I had to go with petsmart. Sorry Petco but your a no go :)
